Bienvenido A Miami
This past weekend my facilitating work took me down to Miami. On Thursday we had white flakes in South Bend, and then on Saturday I was sweating in South Florida.
I was asked by the Florida International University (FIU) to do a Recruitment Bootcamp (www.recruitordie.com) program for their Interfraternity Council. It was a three hour program on skills training and preparing for recruitment. Their community had some issues this fall with a fraternity that was removed for illegal actions and online debauchery that was reported to the school. So obviously with negative media, you need to be sure you are prepared for handling objections and being sure that you are putting your best foot forward.
I was in Florida for less than 24 hours… it was a quick trip. I arrived late on Friday, just in time to grab some food and knock out. I got up early, traveled to campus and enjoyed the palm trees and great auditorium they booked for the program.
It was a responsive group… despite the home football game, tailgating, great weather and palm trees (how do people ever study around those?) they were focused and worked hard. It was a pleasure to see the energy and passion for learning new ideas for connecting with more men on campus about their mission and purpose.
It is also great when there is a line of guys after a program coming to tell you thanks for coming, and asking more questions. I would of loved to of spent all weekend there, doing more programming and help them in greater detail. There is just never enough time to get everything done. I am confident the groups are really going to have some great future recruitment… they left amped up!
