DPhiL Legacy in Chicago
I am becoming a regular on the campus of DePaul University in Chicago… it seems to be a happening campus for hosting cultural Greek events and interestingly I am going back again in a couple weeks. Well right after my weekend with Gamma Phi Omega I returned for a weekend with Delta Phi Lambda Asian-Interest Sorority.
I was scheduled to provide their convention opening keynote, an alumnae workshop on volunteer engagement and recruitment workshops for recruitment. Their theme was “Legacy in the City” and I worked on a version of my program called “Greek Legacy” that I typically do as a campus based program.
I had a lot of fun doing research into their organizational history and being able to take an objective outsider look into their organization. That is one of the most valuable benefits of hiring a consultant, we are able to see and tell you things that other people can’t… I joke with groups, especially sororities, that I am here to tell you the things a sister just can’t. Its true, and I think it is especially true for cultural Greeks… sometimes we get so caught up in our own world that we forget how some of things we do look to other people.
Over the weekend the collegiates and alums brought a lot of energy and passion to the programs and made them especially fun to present. I got to see Dan Wrona from RISE Partnerships as he was also doing workshops over the weekend. It was nice to be in good company. I greatly enjoyed my time talking with their national board. It is great to see a group of such dedicated women to a cause and giving their time to help leave a legacy… I expect some great things from this organization in the coming years #DPhiLegacy
Thank You DPhiL for making a part of your convention!
